Juliette Has a Gun Lust for Sun

WHAT I SMELL:  Lust for Sun opens with a soft bergamot and a sweetened freesia that becomes intensely sweet with the inclusion of ylang ylang.  In short time there’s a light coconut that seems to hover beneath the florals and which seems to add more oomph to the overall heady sugared flowers.  Soon after, a hazy musk like puffs of cotton joins in to draw some of the sugar out.  And there’s an undercurrent of some soured note that combined with the sweet and cottony reminds me a bit of a dirty pee filled diaper.  Thankfully, after a bit, that soured note dissipates and you once again are left with the cottony sweet.  After quite some time, the perfume begins to mute with the inclusion of a buttered finish which helps bring it back to earth a bit but leads it to the realm of a Zara Home-like room spray.  But overall, musks, flowers, sweet, etc.; well, with a light spray it may just work.

BOTTOM LINE:  Lust for Sun would probably be perfect for a 15 or 16 year old who likes their perfumes on the sweet side.  A little goes a long way with it and I have to say that I am having a hard time seeing how this would work on any adult.  But that said, I held my arm up to my husband’s nose and he said “well that’s nice.”  Go figure.  I will say this…don’t overspray, Lust for Sun is meant to be put on with a mist like ease to ensure that you don’t overwhelm yourself or those around you.

Juliette Has a Gun Magnolia Bliss

WHAT I SMELL:  Magnolia Bliss pulls you in with a fresh and fruity enhanced bergamot that is quickly met with a gorgeous magnolia and a ripe and juicy plum and peach.  It’s lusciously smooth and oh so inviting.  The mixture of florals and fruits are intoxicating and it’s full of vibrant sunshine and a happy demeanor.  After a short time, the rounded fruit and florals begin to tame and move from full juiciness to a sweetened creamy silkiness.  Here the perfume seems to drift happily off the skin with some wonderful projection leaving a trail of positive energy in its wake.  As the perfume continues to settle, a warmed musk adds a wrap of comfort around the pretty magnolia.  Magnolia Bliss is exactly that… pure unadulterated bliss!

BOTTOM LINE:  Magnolia Bliss is just that…pure bliss.  It’s not complicated nor full of surprise developments, but it’s easy to love.  This is a perfume that would work no matter the time of year if you just need to add a bit of positive energy into your life.

New Release: Pear Inc. by Juliette Has a Gun

WHAT I SMELL:  Pear Inc. opens with a soft and slightly milky ambered musk.  In a short time, a lovely muted pear makes an appearance while the perfume remains soft, rather cottony and very relaxed.   As the perfume continues to develop, it picks up a bit of volume and starts to radiate a lightly salty aquatic note.  The perfume manages to stay pretty contained leaving the pear note in control where it’s not too sweet, nor too gourmand, but instead it stays in this comfort zone that is pleasantly relaxing and delightfully casual.  In the end, Pear Inc. recedes into a cotton and lightly billowy musk with a layer of subdued semi-sweet pear that rides on top along with just a hint of a hair spray note that seems to pop in and out.  It’s modern without being obtuse, and it’s wonderfully easy to wear.

BOTTOM LINE:  Pear Inc. is a nicely subtle fragrance that is perfect for those who love musk perfumes.  It’s an easy wear that is perfect for casual everyday wear.  I have to say that I like this perfume, but my husband absolutely loves it!
