New Release: Puredistance M V2Q

WHAT I SMELL:   M V2Q explodes on the skin with a dry and smooth lavender and an electric pink peppercorn.  In all, it’s a surprisingly big opening.  In quick manner the perfume dries and powders and seemingly expands.  As it does, the perfume starts reaching to the depths with a warmed cinnamon tinged leather and begins to move to the more creamy with the addition of a beautiful jasmine sambac.  I was a little worried from the start because the perfume was so dry that when I smelled it literally constricted my nostrils, but my worries dissipated with the growing creaminess and the beautiful floral heart.  At this stage, the perfume is warm and inviting and increasingly sensual.  The perfume seems to infuse itself into ones’ skin as one making it more of an essence than a layer of fragrance.  As the perfume continues to develop, the cream begins to subside making way for a sharper mix of patchouli and tonka.  Here M V2Q seems to flex its muscle with a nicely masculine beefiness that is not shy in the least.  But once again the perfume seems to roll on out to the smooth and creamy as it settles from the more provocative to the more sublime.  M V2Q is a handsome devil of a perfume.

From the Puredistance website:

M V2Q is utterly smooth and refined. Welcome to a world of soft leather charm. This perfume is comfortable, powerful and bright at the same time. And true to the carefully curated collection of Puredistance, M V2Q is an extrait with excellent projection and longevity.

Top Notes: Orange blossom, Pink peppercorn, Lavender essence

Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Cypriol, Pine tar, Jasmine Sambac

Base Notes: Patchouli, Vanilla, Labdanum, Tonka, Cedarwood

WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE TO ME:  Daniel Craig as 007.

THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE M V2Q:  confident, smooth, intriguing

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT M V2QThe Plum Girl, Parfumistans blogg, CaFleureBon

BOTTOM LINE:  Puredistance has discontinued their masculine masterpiece M and replaced it in their collection with M V2Q due to the unavailability of some of the ingredients based on new IFRA regulations.  Instead of trying to re-create the magic of M, they decided to work with perfumer Antoine Lie to bring new life to the perfume by modernizing it but within the same vein as the original.  M was inspired by the iconic James Bond 007…M V2Q is inspired by the latest Bond, Daniel Craig.  And it completely works.  For you lovers of the original M, there will be no worries moving to M V2Q.

Puredistance Gold

WHAT I SMELL:   Gold opens with a rush of soft herbed and spiced bergamot that instantly fuses with the warmth of your skin.  The smooth warm opening makes for the most welcoming invitation of what’s to come as from the first spritz, Gold feels as if the perfume is made just for the wearer, and the wearer alone.  As the perfume settles in, Gold begins to flatten and the bergamot and herbs make way for the lightest of labdanum and jasmine bringing the flattened transition to the more rounded.  Here the perfume is pulsing and hypnotic.  After quite some time, Gold begins to dry and the desert begins to emerge from the perfume.  At this point, Gold feels as if the scent is wafting over the ancient dunes and mysterious spices have joined the winds from far away lands.  Gold is a gift from the most ancient of kings.

A rich and harmonious fusion of gold tones.

Puredistance Aenotus

WHAT I SMELL:  Aenotus greets the skin with a soft as silk citrus which glides along with a light touch of yuzu in a haze off of the skin.  Incredibly inviting, Aenotus’ opening is all about comfort and reassurance with just the right amount of sunshine.  After a while, and very quietly, the citrus notes seem to drift off as if the wind lightly carries them away.  A warm and lightly sugared accord gracefully takes center stage, once again adding a layer of perfumed comfort.  Aenotus doesn’t shout about it’s beauty, instead it confidently retreats from anything that can be construed as overt.  A hazy oakmoss begins to then radiate, tinged with pettigrain, adding more comfort along with a subtle elegance.  Here the perfume begins to illuminate lightly off of the skin which after a great deal of time finally surrenders to a most gracious musk.  Aenotus quietly and effortlessly transforms in the most beautiful way.

From the Puredistance website:

AENOTUS is a perfume that, despite its high percentage of perfume oil, is not loud – and after an intense and fresh opening – transforms into a delicate scent, very close to the skin. Only those dear and near will be close enough to enjoy its subtle and intriguing character.

In Greek mythology, Aeolus is the God of the winds who brings coolness to the South of Europe. In AENOTUS the cool notes of Aeolus are fusing with the soft, sensual warmth of the South. And the classic (Latin) ending of the word Aenotus suggests the depth and maturation of time.

NOTES:  Orange, Mandarin, Lemon, Yuzu, Mint, Blackcurrant bud, Petitgrain, Oakmoss, Patchouli & Musks

WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE TO ME:  Perfumed aura.

THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE AENOTUS: soft, serene, sublime

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT AENOTUS:  The Plum Girl, The Fragrant Journey, Chemist in the Bottle

BOTTOM LINE:  Aenotus isn’t a perfume that is meant to be smelled by lifting your arm to your nose.  Instead, it’s an enticing haze that surrounds the wearer creating the most sublime cocoon of perfumed peacefulness.  Aenotus is a subtle beauty.
