WHAT I SMELL: Wilde opens with a bright bergamot and a very light green tea accord. It’s kind of zingy and snappy and almost a bit sweet in a green kind of way. The fig soon comes to prominence, making this fruity, but not succulent as the vetiver and oakmoss keep it from being too round and juicy. After around 10 minutes or so, a bit of warmth emerges which comforts without taking away the zestful aspects of the fragrance. In the meantime, the oak moss combined with the carnation provides for a dusty and slightly spicy backdrop from the fig. In the end Wilde leaves you with a clean, and slightly beefy vetiver that is very easy to wear.
Notes from the Jardins d’Ecrivains website:
Top notes are bergamot and grapes; middle notes are fig, carnation and tea; base notes are oakmoss and vetiver.
WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE TO ME: A zest for life… like a fig and green cornucopia of goodness.
THREE ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE WILDE: lively, joyful, positive
WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT WILDE: The Silver Fox, Chemist in a Bottle, Cafleurebon
BOTTOM LINE: I normally would have passed Wilde by, just by the fig and carnation notes alone. But here they don’t overwhelm, but add additional zest to this very uplifting fragrance. I am rather wild about Wilde!

This is the polar opposite of Orlando don’t you think?

Yes, they’re like black & white. I kind of wish I had Wilde in my collection instead of Orlando.

This ones sounds very interesting. The only other one I’ve tried from Jardin d’Ecrivains is GiGi as part of the sample set from Olfactif (August Collection).

Wilde was a nice surprise for me it’s bright and fresh without be too much so. What did you think of Gigi? I have yet to try it and am a bit scared since I’m not a huge fan of tuberose.

I like the notes in this one. It might be too perky for me though. Lol.

I’ll bring the sample this weekend. You can then determine if it’s too perky 🙂

Mr Hound, I like the idea behind this house of a writer’s garden.

I like the literary aspects of this line too Mr. River. I’m curious as to what their Virginia Wolf would be like??!

I love the whole idea behind Jardins d’Ecrivains. Which is to be inspired in each perfume by great literature. My favorite so far is of course Gigi! Great review dear friend.

My dear Lanier – how come I’m not surprised that your favorite is Gigi… I can picture you wearing it singing, “The night they invented Champagne!” 🙂

While I like the idea of cross-genre creations I do not like this particular approach of naming perfumes after writers or characters.

It seems that this is pretty standard with classic authors. How many George Sand perfumes are out there…4?

Now for some reason when I read your review, I imagined reclining in a toga and eating figs out of a solid gold bowl. I guess I would imagine it to smell decadent and just get the strangest mental images into my head lol.

Kay!!! So glad to see you. I like your mental pictures, but it’s not quite as decadent as all that. Picture someone running around a fig tree in the summer in a toga. It’s more like that 🙂 I hope all is well.

I’ve been bad with the smellies lately, but I am glad to be making my rounds! Now that I have an updated vision, I’m imagining Boticelli’s La Primavera but I’m getting the feeling that’s way too decadent still. I should just get my hands on a sample and smell for myself lol. 🙂
