Have you ever been attracted to a perfume bottle so much that you weren’t worried about the scent? Tommi Sooni bottles are like a siren song for me. Don’t ask me for an explanation, it is what it is. Jinx is my first foray into the Tommi Sooni line.
WHAT I SMELL: Jinx opens with a large rounded aldehydic opening mixed with fig. It almost seems like there is a tea note in there too (tea is not my favorite, but this blends nicely rather than overtakes the fragrance). Jinx is surprisingly not sweet, nor too fruity and the floral aspects are subdued like they are just warming slightly in the sun. The fragrance is quite linear and does not develop much after the floral warmth. That said, in the end Jinx reveals itself to be a very close hugging slightly green warm floral musk that’s very calming and lightly radiant.

These guys are excellent. I love their work andyou will be pleasantly surprised at thew rest of the line Steve. My faves are Jinx, EdTS II and Passarelle.

Do you know that thanks to you and Scent Memories and the Perfumed Dandy – I now know what aldehydes smell like? This with its burst of fig under the Grecian sky sounds enchanting. I’ll have to look for it. 🙂

I have not hear about Tommi Sooni until now! I like the simplicity of the bottle but for the juice – fig with an eventual tea undertone kind of puts me off.

Fig and tea aren’t typically my favorite as well. But this is so subdued that those notes don’t really scream, they are mixed lightly with the floral notes.

An aldehydic and not-too-sweet fig with some unassuming tea.
This sounds like just what I’ve been looking for. Well two things I’ve been looking for: a new fecund fruit and some char.
I will certainly be investigating when the opportunity arises.

Hmm, I’m always worried when I read aldehydic that I might not like it but it still sounds rather wonderful.
I have Tarantella but never wear it (now I’m actually wondering where I’ve put it). 🙂

I love both fig and tea notes in perfumes but Jinx didn’t want to play nicely on my skin. It was soapy and just plain not interesting. I’ll give it another try – maybe it was a bad day? – but I do not expect much. I’m thinking about buying a bottle of Eau de Tommi Sooni II – I like that perfume a lot. I thought Tarantella was very nice and I do want to try the rest of the line but after Jinx I don’t want to pay for samples so I’ll wait for either a swap opportunity or until I find this line somewhere in a store.
But it sounds like you and Jinx are a good match (including their approach to the scent description) 🙂

I have to admit that I prefer Eau de Tommi Sooni II and if I was going to buy a FB, that would probably be the route that I would go as well even though I liked Jinx, I like the spice of EdTSII a bit more!
